The Historical Archives of the European Union (HAEU) and Dedagroup will launch and present the Digital Preservation System (DPS) project of the HAEU on 10 October 2017 at Villa Salviati.
The introduction of the DPS system will be part of a larger event exploring how digital preservation will impact the future of historical archives.
The DPS project was started in September 2016 to preserve and access archival digital documents. The system shall collect, store, preserve and make accessible digital contents produced by the Institutions, Bodies and Agencies of the European Union. This shall also include contents from the European University Institute and other archives deposited at the HAEU by former EU officials, movements and associations that contributed to the European integration process.
The HAEU and Dedagroup will focus on goals and key elements of the project, in particular on the preservation planning strategy, the methodology and the architecture of the system.
During the event internationally renowned experts on digital preservation will discuss the role of archives in the digital era, the importance of standards for a trusted digital repository and the innovation of open source software in cultural heritage.
