Due to the COVID-19 crisis and the related measures taken at the European University Institute, the reading room of the Historical Archives of the European Union has been closed to the public since 11 March 2020.
Since 5 May, EUI researchers and fellows are allowed to access the HAEU reading room respecting the EUI’s Covid security and safety measures. In view of the Italian government’s intention to re-open public libraries and archives, and in line with the EUI’s security and safety measures, the HAEU will open its reading room to the public starting from Monday 18 May. The opening will be conditioned until further notice by the EUI’s specific Covid security measures and limited to three users at a time.
The reading room of the HAEU will thus re-open on 18 May under the following conditions:
1) Users must contact the HAEU one week prior to their visit and inform the Archives about the date and provisional time of their arrival and departure.
2) A maximum of three users at a time will be admitted in the reading room.
3) Users must wear protective masks and gloves at all time in the building and follow the security and safety instructions given by the Service Desk and reading room assistants.
4) We advise users to prepare a list of files for consultation beforehand by searching the HAEU online inventory at: https://archives.eui.eu
