Archivists at the Historical Archives of the European Union (HAEU) announce the publication of the inventory and opening for consultation of the Pasquale Lino Saccà (PLS) fonds in its database.
Pasquale Lino Saccà played a role in preparing Italy’s diplomats, functionaries and consultants for work in the areas of Single Market and European Community policy. He directed courses on European Community politics, and founded the Istituto per il Terzo Mondo, l’Europa e l’America (ITEA).
In addition, Saccà was responsible for the Progetto Euroconsulente, a two-year specialisation course in Italy aimed at university graduates in Political Science, Law, Economics and Commerce, as well as secondary school graduates in business. The project was supported by the European Community and implemented in universities and high schools in several southern Italian regions, including Marche, Campania, Calabria and Sicily.
Sacca’s work and expertise facilitated aspiring Italians in mastering the skills necessary for becoming effective international actors in the context of the European single market. From a European perspective, the fonds illustrates the reach of Europe’s development funds for the mezzogiorno in the area of education.
