These two partnerships mark an important improvement in the EUI’s international outreach and also signify a relevant enhancement of the EUI’s academic cooperation with independent academia in Turkey.
The comprehensive five-year agreements with SU FASS and KU establish a solid framework for collaboration in higher education and research. Through these partnerships, the EUI will engage in joint educational initiatives with both institutions, benefiting faculty, students, researchers, and staff. The two Partners complement the EUI's academic programmes in the fields of economics, history, law, and political and social sciences.
Central to both these agreements is the promotion of mobility activities, including exchange programmes for doctoral and post-doctoral researchers, as well as sabbaticals, visiting professorships, fellowships, and staff visits. Notably, the partnerships with KU and SU FASS emphasise the promotion of teaching experiences for EUI doctoral and postdoctoral researchers. Such initiatives aim to facilitate the exchange of ideas and expertise, enriching the academic landscapes of all involved institutions.
Collaboratively, the EUI, SU FASS, and KU, will also spearhead joint workshops, conferences, and research projects, fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and knowledge exchange. Furthermore, these partnerships will facilitate the exchange of academic and scientific materials.
By forging strategic alliances with leading Turkish institutions like SU and KU, the EUI reaffirms its commitment to fostering global academic excellence and collaboration.
Under the direction of one of Turkey’s leading family-run foundations, the Hacı Ömer Foundation (VAKSA), the Sabancı Group established Sabancı University (SU) in July 1994. Its Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) has multiple graduate programmes in economics, psychology, political science, conflict analysis and resolution, European studies, visual arts and communications design, history, cultural studies, and gender studies. Cooperation with EU-funded projects have allowed significant research collaborations with several international partners and stakeholders. Research combined with training and public outreach have made FASS a visible actor in social sciences and humanities nationally and internationally.
Founded in 1993, Koç University (KU) is a non-profit private research university located in Istanbul, Turkey, supported by the resources of the internationally renowned Vehbi Koç Foundation.
