Miguel Poiares Maduro is Part-Time Professor and former Director of the School of Transnational Governance. He is also Chair of the Executive Board of the European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO), an STG-led project on online disinformation, funded by the European Commission.Professor Maduro was previously a Professor at the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies. He was founding Director of the Global Governance Programme there from 2009 until 2013. He is Co-Director of the Academy of International Trade Law (Macao). He has been a regular Visiting Professor at Yale Law School, the College of Europe and Universidades Católica and Nova in Portugal. He has also taught at the London School of Economics, the Centro de Estudios Constitucionales (Madrid) and the University of Chicago Law School, and was a Fulbright Scholar at Harvard Law School.Professor Maduro has published articles on issues of EU law, constitutional law, human rights law and international economic law. He belongs to the editorial or advisory board of several law journals.From 2013 to 2015, Professor Maduro was Minister Deputy to the Prime Minister and Minister for Regional Development in Portugal. From 2003-2009 he served as Advocate General at the European Court of Justice. He has been Member of the European Council of Foreign Relations, Member of the European Council of the World Economic Forum, and Member of the European Commission High Level Group on Media Pluralism and Media Freedom. He was Chairman of the Governance and Review Committee of FIFA from June 2016 - May 2017.
