Biography

Joins the Institute in September 2024, taking leave as a professor of economics at Goethe University Frankfurt; he taught previously at Cologne University (2009-2014). In his research he investigates the effects of demographic change on growth and on the inter- and intra-generational distribution of wealth and welfare, and he works on questions pertaining to the optimal design of social insurance schemes and education policies. He has published extensively in professional journals including the Journal of Monetary Economics, the American Economic Journal, the Journal of Economic Theory and the International Economic Review.
