Scientific reports produced by the Euratom’s Eurisotop office from 1961 to 1976, the period in which it operated, are now available for consultation in the reading room at the Historical Archives of the European Union.
These reports are part of the private archives deposited by the family of Georg Pröpstl (1919 – 2012), a German physicist who was the director of the Eurisotop office for the entire period of its existence. The Eurisotop Office of Euratom was set up by the Commission at the end of 1961 to promote and publicize the use of isotopes and radiation in industry.
The reports, described with full title, cover a wide range of research topics regarding the industrial application of isotopic science, for example from the textile and glass sectors to farming and food preservation. They were published in various official languages of the Communities, including as Dutch, English, French, Italian and German.
In addition, the series include some issues of Euratom reports and some rare publications by other research centres collected by Georg Pröpstl.
