The Historical Archives of the European Union has inventoried and opened the most recent accruals to the Gordon Adam archives. Gordon Adam was a British Member of European Parliament from 1979 until 2004. As MEP, he was the President of Delegation to the EU-Lithuania Joint Parliamentary Committee and served on the Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Industry and Energy Committees of the European Parliament.
A trained mining engineer, Mr. Adam served as a budget spokesman for energy and research issues at the European Parliament for eleven years. He participated in European Parliament (EP) delegation visits to Russia, Ukraine, South East Asia, Korea and Central Asia, as well as EP study tours to the Baltic States, Serbia, Croatia, Romania, and Bulgaria.
The new materials concern Adam’s visits to the Ukraine as part of the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Cooperation Committee in the field of energy, as well as other professional activities concerning mining, renewable energy and the environment. Additional files illustrate political activities related to the North East section of the Labour Party’s anti-Brexit campaign.
