Documents (1999-2003) relating to the elaboration and drafting of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union in the two European Conventions are now available for consultation in the NBE collection deposited at the Historical Archives of the European Union by Professor Norbert Bernsdorff in September 2024.

The collection consists of two dedicated publications by Professor Bernsdorff and Martin Borowsky (NBE.01 and NBE.02) including official documents created by the ‘European Convention for the drafting of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union’ (1999-2000) and documents created by the ‘Convention on the Future of the European Union’ (2002-2003) (NBE.03).

These related documents originate from the once existing websites set up by the Secretariat General of the European Council.

The collection also comprises a series with materials by the Deutscher Bundestag und Deutscher Bundesrat (1999-2000) (NBE.04).

All documents are accessible as electronic copies online.

This new NBE collection complements the historical sources (1999-2009) of the Charter of Fundamental Rights (CFR) collection deposited at the HAEU in 2022 by Niall Coghlan and Marc Steiert.
