Are you interested in contributing to the development of the EUI Alumni network? If so, then you can stand as a candidate for the upcoming elections which will appoint the new members of the Alumni Association (AA) Executive Committee (2014-2016). The Committee, in collaboration with the members of the Alumni Association, plays a key role in promoting and reinforcing contact, mutual assistance, activities and information exchange between all alumni and the EUI.
Frequently Asked Questions:
How many members are elected for the Executive Committee?
The Committee consists of five full members who are elected by the General Assembly for a period of two years: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and Member.
Who can stand for election?
Full members of the Alumni Association have full rights to stand for election to the Executive Committee and to all other committees and functions within the Association. However, Associate Members and Honorary Members are neither eligible to serve on the Executive Committee nor to chair any sub-committee and can only participate in the activities of the Association.
What is the process for candidacy?
The Executive Committee election cycle will begin in May 2014. Interested alumni should write to [email protected] with their proposed programme for the Alumni Association by 30 May 2014 at the latest. The Alumni Office will work with candidates to prepare bio information, photos, and position statements for use on the ballot. Upon receipt of all nominations, the details will be posted on the alumni section of the EUI website. Prior to the election of the Executive Committee, an Electoral Sub-Committee will be established which will be responsible for the conduct and scrutiny of the elections of the Executive Committee. The members of the Electoral Sub-Committee may not themselves stand for office at the election.
When does the 2014 election take place?
Voting will take place in the first week of October 2014 during the Annual General Assembly in Florence. Online voting options will be available for those who are unable to attend the General Assembly. All instructions will be emailed to full members of the Alumni Association in June.
Who can vote in the election?
Any full member of the Alumni Association is eligible to vote. If you are aware of any alumni who wishes to participate but is not a full member, please convey to them that they should write to [email protected], as soon as possible, to update their contact details and to join the Association.
How to become a full member of the Alumni Association?
Full membership of the Association is open to all former research/master students and to post-doctoral fellows who have been enrolled at the European University Institute for at least one academic year through the normal Institute selection procedure. The membership fee is €30 for one year and €80 for three years. For further details, visit the Association’s membership webpage.
