Biography

My primary field is macroeconomics and my research interests are in the areas of fiscal policy in dynamic (stochastic) general equilibrium models, economic growth, and applied econometrics.
My current research focuses on the macroeconomics of labour markets, and in particular DSGE models with search and matching frictions. The research question I am interested in is related to the macroeconomic effects of fiscal consolidations, which have become central in academic and policy circles over the last three years.
I obtained a PhD in Economics from the Athens University of Economics and Business. During my graduate studies, I also spent two academic terms at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona as a visiting PhD student.
For my doctoral dissertation, I carried out theoretical and empirical research in the fields of macroeconomics and public finance. The first part of my thesis examines the direct and spill-over productivity effects of infrastructure spending for new capital and for operations and maintenance in the U.S. states, using semi-parametric econometric methods. The second part studies green spending reforms, defined as a shift in government spending from ‘productive’ to environmental outlays, in a growth model with endogenous time preference.
As a teaching assistant, I have taught various courses in macroeconomics and applied econometrics, at both the undergraduate and postgraduate level.
