My current research focuses on the macroeconomics of labour markets, and in particular DSGE models with search and matching frictions. The research question I am interested in is related to the macroeconomic effects of fiscal consolidations, which have become central in academic and policy circles over the last three years. I obtained a PhD in Economics from the Athens University of Economics and Business. During my graduate studies, I also spent two academic terms at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona as a visiting PhD student. For my doctoral dissertation, I carried out theoretical and empirical research in the fields of macroeconomics and public finance. The first part of my thesis examines the direct and spill-over productivity effects of infrastructure spending for new capital and for operations and maintenance in the U.S. states, using semi-parametric econometric methods. The second part studies green spending reforms, defined as a shift in government spending from ‘productive’ to environmental outlays, in a growth model with endogenous time preference. As a teaching assistant, I have taught various courses in macroeconomics and applied econometrics, at both the undergraduate and postgraduate level.
