For the past year and a half she has worked as a research assistant on the EURECON project on the history of European economic integration. Her research focuses on the development of the 1981–82 Eastern European sovereign debt crisis and explores the links between sovereign lending and politics, as well as the role of creditor countries in the development of financial crises, specifically between the UK, Romania and Hungary. During the Max Weber Fellowship she will be developing this research further to look at the case of Poland, and publishing her PhD thesis as a book. Catherine has taught Economic & Social History at undergraduate level, and is currently supervising Masters dissertations as an associate lecturer for the MSc Global Economy programme at the University of Glasgow.
