Biography

Aden Knaap is a Max Weber Postdoctoral Fellow in the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies at the European University Institute.

Knaap is a historian and legal scholar. He received his PhD in History from Harvard University in 2023 and his law degree from the University of Sydney in 2016. His first book project is a history of international courts from 1900 to 1970.

His research has been supported by the Mellon Foundation, the Social Science Research Council, and the American Historical Association, among others. He has published articles on history and law in the Journal of Global History and the European Journal of International Law, and has held visiting positions at the university of Cambridge, Amsterdam, and Copenhagen.
