The Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC) is a newly launched international comparative study governed by the OECD. PIAAC focuses on investigating key competencies / literacy, numeracy and problem solving in technology-rich environments / in adults aged 16 to 65.
Twenty-four countries from all over the world participated in the first round of PIAAC. The results of this round were published in October 2013. Results from this round will be presented with a special focus on Germany in contrast to the OECD average.
The talk will include country rankings for the three competence domains as well as within country differences and economic outcomes. Implications of the findings from a German perspective will be discussed.
