The EUI and the Graduate Institute strengthen cooperation

Posted on 17 December 2019
The European University Institute (EUI) and the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (Graduate Institute) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance their longstanding partnership.

The two institutions, reputed for their studies and research in European and international affairs, will increase academic cooperation and exchanges, involving their students, faculty and staff.

In the 2021-2022 academic year, the Graduate Institute and the EUI and will organise master student exchanges, with the first cohort travelling from Geneva to Florence (Master in Transnational Governance) and vice-versa from the academic year 2021-2022. Furthermore, the two institutions will explore options for a dual Master’s in Transnational Governance and International Relations.

The Graduate Institute and the EUI will also collaborate on doctoral researcher exchanges, executive training sessions, summer schools and other research and education projects. Through these shared activities, the two partners aim to contribute to impactful solutions for policy challenges and opportunities such as climate change, inequalities (including gender), population growth, innovation and sustainable development.

'With this updated MoU, our two institutions reinforce well-established ties, bridging past and present whilst improving and developing our offer of programmes in relation to international governance,' said Renaud Dehousse, President of the EUI.

'This new agreement strengthens the long-lasting ties between the Graduate Institute and the EUI. Given that both institutions have much in common, I am confident that this agreement will be an important step forward in our cooperation,' added Philippe Burrin, Director of the Graduate Institute.
