Enrolment and Course Fees

The Centre for Academic Literacies and Languages (CALL) courses are open to all members of the EUI, including partners and visiting academics.

EUI language courses are free for EUI PhD and LL.M. researchers. Other EUI members may be required to pay course fees. Check your category below to find out whether and how much you have to pay.

Additional language courses (anything other than English, Italian, French, German or Spanish) must be paid for. See the Additional languages page for more information.

Who can enrol in a course?

Please note that the first time you enrol in a language centre course you must show your EUI card to the CALL Assistant.

Enrolment Procedure

The teaching calendar consists of a pre-sessional period and three terms.

You must enrol in a course before attending a session. You may enrol at any time, but if the term is part-way through we encourage you to contact the teacher first. If you enrol in a course which is already full, you will be placed on a waiting list.

For those who have access to the PDM, a request must be inserted before each term.

First-year researchers are assigned to, and automatically enrolled in, English and Italian courses for the pre-sessional courses in September.

Where there is an insufficient number of participants, the course will close.

You should regularly check the language pages for the latest information.

Please note that the first time you enrol in a language centre course you must show your EUI card to the CALL Administrative Officer.

 Attendance Regulations

Attendance is compulsory once you have enrolled in a course. If you cannot attend a session for work-related, medical, or family reasons, you must justify your absence with your teacher. If you want to withdraw, please write to the CALL Administrative Officer.

If you are absent for more than two sessions without justification, you will lose your place on the course.
