No separate funding application is required.
An application to the EUI is automatically also an application to the Swedish Research Council for a Ph.D. grant. Candidates should apply for admission to the EUI Doctoral Programme using the EUI online application form for this purpose.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates who are Swedish citizens or hold a permanent residence permit in Sweden are eligible to apply.
General entry requirements (According to the Swedish Higher Education Ordinance).
A person meets the general entry requirements for third-cycle courses and study programmes if he or she:
- has been awarded a second-cycle qualification.
- has satisfied the requirements for courses comprising at least 240 credits of which at least 60 credits were awarded in the second-cycle, or
- has acquired substantially equivalent knowledge in some other way in Sweden or abroad.The higher education institution may permit an exemption from the general entry requirements for an individual applicant, if there are special grounds. Ordinance (2010:1064).
Eligibility is not automatic, and it is carefully verified for each candidate.
Grants and Allowances
Monthly Grant: 2.170 €
Travel allowance: 10.000 SEK/year.
Health Insurance: Yes.
Child Allowance: 300 €/month.
The Authority provides a monthly grant for the first three years of EUI Ph.D. Programme. The fourth year is covered by the EUI (2025 EUI fourth-year grant is 1.620 EUR per month, in addition to other allowances) the authority pays a top-up and other allowances.
