The EUI Democracy Forum explores the range, promise and potential of citizen participation in Europe, by taking the Conference on the Future of Europe (CoFoE) as a case in point. It provides a bridge between academia, European institutions, practitioners, and civil society in order to help CoFoE to become a window and a test for what the EU could and should do following the conference, and beyond; respectively, the Forum's members come from the world of academia, civil society and policy-making.
So far, the forum has looked at the methodology of the conference and how selection and inclusion actually worked in practice. It has also analysed the related political tensions and concerns. As "critical friends" of the conference, its main interest is to assess how this ambitious initiative could serve as a blueprint to be extended in current and future attempts to reinvent European democracy.
The Forum's goals and methods are developed organically by its members, both reactively and proactively, as critical observers and active participants in CoFoE processes.
Everyone is invited to this meeting of the Forum to follow closely the work of its members.
