In this lecture, Primavera De Filippi (Harvard University and EUI-RSC) will focus on how blockchain technology can help achieve greater transparency and accountability for academic credentials, as well as increased interoperability amongst a variety of institutional credentials and attestations. This could promote the transition towards a more interconnected model of academic credentials, enabling people to prove their knowledge and skills by aggregating credentials from multiple sources. In the long term, this could allow for more granular curricula, where people could aggregate multiple credentials into a wide range of ad-hoc diplomas, as opposed to a specific set of predefined diplomas delivered by a few recognised institutions.
