The challenges we face today, such as climate change, the COVID-19 pandemics, or the war in Ukraine, have put expertise in the spotlight. The advice of experts is sought and used to justify decisions of the policy makers. And yet, the more we are aware how much we need and how much we rely on all kinds of experts, the more we see that experts are not immune to allowing ideologies and politics influence their policy proposals. The idea of this roundtable comes from the realisation that a more nuanced understanding on the politics of expertise is needed.
