Led by the STG Fellows, the talks are a place for informal learning and exchange on global issues affecting different areas of policymaking. How are African countries faring amid rising fears of democratic backsliding around the world? Can people on the continent speak, assemble and select their leaders freely? How safe is Africa for activism? In this STG Talk, Young African Leaders and Policy Leader Fellows will discuss this important theme through dispassionate analysis of contemporary African political developments and governance indices, and reflections on their own lived experiences.Is transparent governance occurring in Africa? Is democracy obstructive or conducive to peace, stability, accelerated industrialisation, and effective resource and environmental governance on the continent?
