This very short workshop aims to help you refine your style as a research writer. We will consider the differences between what "style" means for writers of creative and scholarly writing; we will zoom in on some points of syntax and how they affect readability of prose, as well as out to wider questions concerning whether attention to style always privileges first-language speakers of English. We will also think about how different disciplines may have an in-house sense of good style. You are asked to bring with you a paragraph or two of your writing in progress that you will be prepared to share with the other workshop participants.
