Carbon credits are being regulated following different policy approaches depending on the goals pursued and the sectors targeted. The EU, drawing from its decennial experience with the Emission Trading System, is well-placed to influence the debate on the fundamentals for well-functioning carbon markets. This High-Level Policy Dialogue focuses on three key recent policy developments affecting the trade of carbon credits: the failed agreement on article 6. guidance within the UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) framework, the EU legislative approach to green claims, and CORSIA (Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation) first phase. Attendance at this event is by invitation only and all deliberations will take place under the Chatham House rule (no views or positions may be attributed publicly to any participant). Following the recommendations that come out of the discussion, the organisers will publish a policy brief as part of their public mission.
