As in the past, humanity today is confronted with numerous challenges that transcend national borders. To be able to address the respective queries adequately, they have to be considered from different angles and with the help of a variety of research methods and academic disciplines. This is of utmost importance, on the one hand, to draw lessons from history and, on the other hand, to provide guidance on the mitigation of current social and political issues.
This multidisciplinary workshop is dedicated to analysing global challenges from regional, i.e. geographically diverse, perspectives. In particular, case studies addressing global challenges in a unique setting will be consulted. In addition, geographically small-scale environments will be drawn upon to examine their role in public preferences and behaviour in times of upheaval.
