This seminar examines the stability of the Western Balkans within the broader framework of transatlantic relations and European security. Key topics include the development of a European defence force, NATO–EU cooperation, and the sources of security threats facing Europe. The discussion will also explore the EU’s key allies, the role of security considerations in enlargement debates, and how the Western Balkans fit into the continent’s evolving security architecture.In light of current geopolitical shifts, the seminar will assess NATO’s future as a stabilising military force in the region and consider the strategic choices facing the EU and its partners in ensuring long-term stability in the Western Balkans.
