The European Green Deal has emerged as a pivotal agenda in recent years, encapsulating Europe’s concern for social and environmental transitions. It is presented as a paradigm shift , with a view to radically transforming the EU’s economy and society. This workshop aims to reflect on whether this instrument and the policies associated to it require a parallel methodological shift.
We have asked prominent experts in the field, from different disciplines history, social sciences, law, and economics), to present and reflect on their approaches and methodologies. We seek to explore historical continuities and discontinuities, issues of scale and disconnections with reality on the ground, as well as regulation in times of complexity considering the diverse array of data, instruments, and forms of expertise shaping the Green Deal and its effects.
This collaborative workshop, jointly organised by the Environmental Cluster of the EUI and the GIS-Europe France, serves as a platform for interdisciplinary dialogue and reflection. Through collective inquiry and critical analysis, we aspire to foster a deeper understanding of the European Green Deal's dynamics and its transformative potential on social and environmental transitions.
