This executive workshop aims to equip Geneva WTO LDC delegates with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively engage in discussions surrounding Rules of Origin (RoO) in international trade. The workshop will focus on enhancing understanding of RoO and their implications for trade facilitation and economic development, particularly in the context of the upcoming Committee on Rules of Origin meeting scheduled for 21–22 November 2024.

- Analysis of recent developments in RoO as discussed in the General Council and the implications for LDCs
- Examination of best practices and strategies for effective negotiation and implementation of RoO
- Insights from recent UNCTAD studies on RoO practices in different regional contexts, including Asia and the Pacific
- Addressing challenges related to the utilisation of trade preferences and optimising RoO frameworks for LDCs
The workshop will feature interactive discussions led by experts from UNCTAD, the World Customs Organization, the Asian Development Bank, and other regional organisations, as well as contributions from government officials.
