Join us at the Fifth Empirical Investigations in Services Trade conference and submit your paper related to any aspect of international trade and investment in services.

This bi-annual event is co-organised by the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies, EUI; TED University Trade Research Center, Ankara; the Trade Policy Division of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development; and the World Trade Institute, Bern. Submissions of papers and expressions of interest in attending the conference are open.

The meeting will take place on 8-9 October in Paris, France, hosted by the OECD and in synergy with the Policy Workshop for the 10th anniversary of the OECD Services Trade Restrictiveness Index (STRI) on 9 October. The theme of the conference is economic and international political economy analysis of trade and investment in services.

Submissions with an empirical component and related to any aspect of international trade and investment in services are welcomed.

Welcomed submissions also include the following topics, among others:

• Services trade, structural transformation, and economic development;

• Services tradability, digitalisation, and technology;

• Labour market effects of internationalisation of services activities;

• Services trade and environmental sustainability;

• Patterns and determinants of comparative advantage in services trade.

Submission of papers featuring policy dimensions, with studies of or implications for services policies and regulations, trade and investment agreements, and international regulatory cooperation (e.g., on data privacy and data flows) are encouraged.

Accommodation:

Expenses will be covered for one author per paper. Participants who are interested in attending must fund their own travel expenses as only limited funding is available. The meeting is open to attendees who are not presenting papers, subject to space constraints.
