This event will gather speakers to discuss the protection of minorities in Ukraine's EU integration.

During this event co-organised with Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University and University of Genoa, panellists will focus on the protection of national minorities and indigenous peoples within the context of Ukraine's integration into the European Union. Discussions will cover EU accession requirements recommended by the European Union and outlined by the European Commission's 'For Democracy through Law' (Venice Commission). Key topics will include the adaptation of these requirements to Ukrainian legislation, the necessary steps during and post-war, and the challenges of ensuring the rights of national minorities and indigenous peoples during wartime.

This workshop is being implemented within the framework of the Supporting Ukraine's progress on EU reforms project, which aims to define a solid basis for a legal framework that can be politically acceptable and legally effective in Ukraine, as well as meet EU requirements for the protection of ethnic minorities in the EU rule of law system.

This event is funded through the EUI Widening Europe Programme.

The EUI Widening Europe Programme, backed by contributions from the European Union and EUI Contracting States, is designed to strengthen internationalisation, competitiveness, and quality in research in Widening countries, and thus foster a more cohesive European Higher Education and Research area.
