Presenting the main arguments of the book, the event will focus on the relationship between sex and gender under international human rights law and the ensuing effects on sexed/gendered subjectivities through feminist, queer, and psychoanalytic perspectives. In particular, two case studies, the UN human rights treaty bodies' vocabulary on medically unnecessary interventions upon intersex children and the European Court of Human Rights' narrative on sadomasochism, will be discussed to show the limits of a rigidly binary legal approach to sex and gender.Find the book here.
