The Florence School of Transnational Governance at the European University Institute welcomes EU Official Alexandre Polack, Political Assistant for the Middle East and North Africa at the European External Action Service (EEAS), to share his views on the challenges and opportunities of EU diplomacy in an increasingly complex geopolitical landscape.
Alexandre Polack is a graduate of Sciences Po, Manchester Metropolitan University, the College of Europe, and Johns Hopkins University, with over 20 years of professional experience in policy, communications, and program management in the field of international relations. His career encompasses significant diplomatic roles, including 10 years in EU delegations in Haiti, Brazil, and the U.S., as well as his previous position as the European Commission Spokesperson for Humanitarian Aid, Crisis Management, and International Cooperation.
Drawing on his experiences in international cooperation, transatlantic diplomacy, and crisis management, Polack will explore the EU’s role in addressing global challenges, the influential role of the EEAS, and the EU’s response to regional conflicts and instabilities. His talk will also shed light on his prior roles, including Deputy Head of the Political, Security, and Development Section at the EU Delegation to the U.S. and as a Transatlantic Diplomatic Fellow at the U.S. Department of State.
The event, moderated by Miriam Eladly (MA Student, STG), will include an interactive Q&A session, during which participants will have the opportunity to discuss EU external relations, global governance, and careers in international diplomacy.
