We welcome Professor Veronica Anghel to present the findings of the “Global Risks to the EU” research project, followed by insights from international relations and global risk experts, on how policymakers can navigate and prioritise the most pressing threats to European interests amidst today’s complex challenges.

As 2025 unfolds, the global stage is marked by an uncertain ceasefire in the Middle East, increasing U.S. isolationism, and urgent calls for peace in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. In the face of these converging challenges, how can policymakers effectively identify and prioritise the most significant threats to European interests?

The Global Risks to the EU research project, launched by the Robert Schuman Centre at the European University Institute, offers the first comprehensive, continent-wide assessment of global risk perceptions among European experts. This initiative aims to provide strategic foresight for European foreign policy, analyse foreign policy alignment within the EU, and facilitate transatlantic comparisons of strategic priorities.

We welcome Professor Veronica Anghel (Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies, EUI) to present the survey and explore the results with the panel. The discussion will feature a panel of international relations and global risk experts, providing valuable insights into the survey's implications.

The report can be downloaded here: https://europeangovernanceandpolitics.eui.eu/global-risks-eu/

This event also introduces the upcoming Executive Training on Global Risk Management, hosted by the School of Transnational Governance (STG), offering participants valuable insights into managing complex global challenges.

The event will be held at Palazzo Buontalenti, the premises of the Florence School of Transnational Governance EUI, and online. All are welcome to attend. Please register, indicating if you will attend in person or online.
