The DPSWG is hosting an informal discussion event focusing on access to information from EU institutions. The event is aimed at discussing the mechanisms, challenges and potential shortcomings involved in accessing information from EU institutions from a researcher’s standpoint. How to go about making such requests? What routes to pursue to follow-up? How to ensure you get it right? These and other questions are of relevance for both our researcher community focusing on digital research and many other EUI researchers. All are thus welcome to join this in-person workshop, which will follow an informal workshop format, encouraging open discussions and exchange of views and experiences among participants. To provide diverse perspectives, the event will feature opening remarks by Onno Brouwer, a lawyer having represented several entities in transparency cases before EU courts; Michal Krajewski, a former EUI researcher who navigated access to information during his PhD and is now a member of the European Ombudsman office; and Alexander Fanta, an investigative journalist with experience in filling access to information requests with EU institutions.
