Since its inaugural meeting in Florence in 2004, the European Society of International Law – whose secretariat is based at the EUI's Academy of European Law – has provided a forum for the exchange and promotion of new ideas in the field of international law through the annual organisation of events across various venues.
In the year of its 20th anniversary, ESIL will gather in Nicosia on 18 and 19 April for its annual Research Forum, a scholarly event that promotes engagement with research-in-progress by early-career members of the Society. The theme of this year's forum, hosted by the University of Cyprus Department of Law, is 'Revisiting Interactions between Legal Orders', with a record-setting 40 early-career scholars presenting their work.
The Society's 19th Annual Conference and official 20th anniversary celebration will take place in Vilnius on 5 and 6 September. The conference, organised by Vilnius University, will bring together scholars, practitioners, and students from around the world to discuss and debate the most pressing issues at the intersection of international law and global affairs. It will revolve around the theme of 'Technological Change and International Law'.
Membership of ESIL is open to anyone with an interest in international law. Full details of the Society and all of its events can be found on the ESIL website.
