'Gender Talks at Villa La Fonte' aims to foster a dynamic exchange of ideas and perspectives in the field of gender economics. This new series will take place on a monthly basis and will host presentations on dedicated topics with both internal speakers as well as occasional external speakers.
The first session takes places on 1 February 2024 and hosts Economics Professor, Andrea Ichino, who will present his paper 'Gender Policy and Signaling'. The session will be followed by a discussion on the topic.
In providing their motivation in initiating the 'Gender Talks' series, the members of the 'Women in VLF Initiative' state: "In 2023, Claudia Goldin was honoured with the Nobel Prize in Economics for her research on women's participation in the labour market. Following a presentation about her work at the EUI Economics Department, participants engaged in a lively discussion, which sparked interesting conversations far beyond the event itself. This occasion, and the extremely positive feedback provided by researchers and professors, made it clear that Villa la Fonte needed a dedicated space to further explore and discuss gender-related research."
The ‘Women in VLF Initiative' welcomes anyone to participate in these inclusive debates, providing an academic perspective on issues that impact our everyday experiences.
