Edited by Megan Donaldson (University College London) and Academy of European Law (AEL) Directors, Neha Jain and Sarah Nouwen, the symposium explores the themes of tradition and innovation in the work of Professor Antonio Cassese, and reflects on the nature of biographical writing in international law and its relation to the memorialisation and historicisation of law’s recent past.Read Megan Donaldson’s introduction and the articles by Lorenzo Gradoni, Adil Hasan Khan, and Kirsten Sellars. The workshop was convened by the EUI's Academy of European Law (AEL) in October 2021 on the tenth anniversary of Professor Cassese’s death to reflect upon the way he introduced new methods and ideas in international law, also making use of the collection of his papers at the Historical Archives of the European Union (HAEU).
