The exhibition 'I GRANT YOU REFUGE' is inspired by the poem with the same title by Palestinian writer and poet Hiba Abu Nada, who was killed in her home in Gaza. The photos, many of which are difficult to watch, document what is happening today in Gaza. They also offer the opportunity to reflect, understand, and most importantly, not forget.
The exhibition is also a tribute to the indomitable spirit of the six photographers from the Gaza Strip, representing the dozens of photojournalists who live and work in the area and who are eyewitnesses to one of the most devastating conflicts of our time.
Through their photographs, we are given a vivid window into the horrors being perpetrated in Palestine, and into the destruction, suffering, and daily struggles of people trapped in a territory under siege.
Photographers featured in the exhibit:
Shadi Al-Tabatibi
Mahdy Zourob
Mohammed Hajjar
Saeed Mohammed Jaras
Omar Naaman Ashtiwi
Jihad Al-Sharafi
The exhibit will be hosted in the Badia Fiesolana’s cloister and is open to the public from 14 January to 14 March 2024.
