In this first episode of the video series #MyEUIResearch, we spotlight Joo-Cheong Tham, a Fernand Braudel Fellow at the EUI Law Department with over two decades of expertise in labour law and the law of democracy.
Tham discusses his current project – a deeply reflective book that addresses the intersections of climate change, labour law, and democratic solidarity. While the title is still in the works, Tham shares the profound journey of uniting his areas of expertise to tackle three interconnected crises: the climate crisis, the crisis in the world of work, and the crisis of democracy.
Joo-Cheong Tham is a Fernand Braudel Fellow at the EUI Law Department and a Professor at Melbourne Law School with expertise in labour law and public law. His labour law research focusses on the regulation of precarious work. His public law research centres upon law and democracy with a particular emphasis on the role of money in politics. Since the 2019 student climate strikes, Joo-Cheong has increasingly orientated his research towards the climate crisis.
