The GIFI team is looking for five external authors to produce reports focused on the analysis of the implementation of the Declaration on the Future of the Internet in different regions:
- Sub-Saharan Africa
- Latin America and the Caribbean
- Indo-Pacific
- Middle East and North Africa
- EU Neighbourhood and Eastern Europe
An individual work plan will be developed with the selected authors with deadlines for submitting the draft reports as follows:
- 30 October: Indo-Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean, Sub-Saharan Africa
- 30 November: Middle East and North Africa, EU Neighbourhood and Eastern Europe
Specifications:
- A report should be 8,000-10,000 words in length.
- Reports should be comprehensive in scope and include all the signatory countries in each given region and a selection of key-non-signatory countries. The scope of the report will be one of the factors in the assessment of the proposal.
- Authors will be offered a fee of EUR 2500.
- Reports will be published on the website from the Global Initiative on the Future of the Internet’s project.
- Authors should propose two visuals to be included in the publication. They are responsible for providing the data. Data visualisation will be prepared by the GIFI team.
- Selected authors will be required to participate in an online methodology workshop to align methodological approaches between different authors, and identify relevant indicators and verification sources.
- Authors may be asked to present their reports during an online or in-person event organised by GIFI.

Shortlisted authors will be contacted to submit a more detailed research proposal and a work plan.
GIFI is a two-year project funded by the European Union to promote the Declaration for the Future of the Internet (DFI). Through a mix of policy support, multistakeholder implementation, and outreach activities with carefully selected target groups, coupled with peer-to-peer knowledge sharing and engagement, the GIFI project aims to contribute to promoting the Declaration for the Future of the Internet and support the implementation of its principles in a multi-stakeholder and rights-based approach.
