On 3 October 2024, EUI President Professor Patrizia Nanz, together with NYU Florence Academic Director, Professor Rogan Kersh, signed a renewed Memorandum of Understanding between the EUI and NYU. The MOU strengthens the original Agreement dating back to 1995, with the objective of facilitating exchanges amongst PhD researchers in both universities.

Under this renewed collaboration, the two Parties aim to enrich their respective teaching and research exchange programmes amongst researchers and faculty, as well as strengthen and expand the mutual contacts between the institutions for the benefit of their academic communities.

The agreement aims to foster collaboration on activities involving teaching and research, including mainly the exchange of faculty and students, the exchange of academic information, materials, and resources, and staff development.

In addition to these core activities, the partnership will further facilitate the creation of teaching assistant opportunities at NYU Florence for EUI doctoral candidates and post-doctoral researchers; the development of joint events, including conferences, symposia, and workshops; access to research facilities at both institutions; curricular internship exchange opportunities for NYU and EUI students; as well as joint executive education programmes.

Founded in 1831, NYU is a leader in global education, currently hosting 20 schools and colleges around the world. Its main campus is based in New York City, but it has degree-granting campuses in Abu Dhabi and Shanghai, as well as 12 study away sites across the globe. Among these, the Florence campus.

NYU Florence is based at Villa La Pietra, offering a rich academic programme for undergraduate students. Around 300 undergraduates per semester study Italy's history and art, literature, philosophy, and architecture, along with political, cultural, economic, and social issues.

Any further information on this partnership may be obtained from the EUI External Relations Office.
