Biography

Jessica Di Cocco holds a PhD in Socio-Economic and Statistical Studies from Sapienza University, Department of Economics and Law. Her academic background in Political Science and Economics is enriched by her interest in blending disciplines, particularly with Computer Science. Di Cocco's research has been centered on studying voting and party behavior, conducting text-as-data analysis, and delving into the complex dynamics of inequalities at both macro and micro levels.

Formerly a Max Weber Fellow at the EUI SPS department, Jessica Di Cocco now serves as a Research Fellow at the Robert Schuman Centre, contributing to the GLOBAL project under the guidance of Professor Daniele Caramani. Her current work involves employing text-as-data methodologies to explore global inequalities and their interactions across various stakeholders. Simultaneously, she continues her investigation into populism and related subjects while tackling methodological challenges associated with generative AI tools and LLM for text classification within the social sciences.

Alongside her research endeavours, she has shared her expertise by teaching Quantitative Methods at EUI SPS Department and leading various courses and workshops on text-as-data at institutions including the University of Lucerne, Masaryk University in Brno, and Sapienza University in Rome.

Jessica Di Cocco was awarded the 2023 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship at University College Dublin.
