Biography

Luigi Malferrari is an EU fellow at the Robert Schuman Centre. He is a member of the Legal Service of the European Commission in Brussels, working inter alia in the fields of free movement, public procurement, political advertising, media, fundamental rights and values.

Luigi obtained his law degree at the University of Bologna, his LL.M. from Harvard Law School and his PhD from the University of Heidelberg (MaxPlanck-Institute for international law). He was admitted to the Italian bar and did a stint at the law firm Lovells (currently Hogan Lovells).

His previous experience includes several years as a clerk (référendaire), at the EU Court of Justice in Luxembourg and two years as legal officer at Directorate-General for Internal Market of the European Commission.

Luigi is currently a lecturer at SciencesPo in Strasbourg and at the LL.M. program at the University of Saarland. Additionally, he is a member of the advisory board of the European Journal of Business Law (EuZW) in Germany.
