Since October 2021, Alba Kugelmeier López has been working as a research assistant and PhD candidate at the Chair of Multilevel Governance in Europe at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg. In her research she focuses on feminist theories and gender equality policies, with a particular emphasis on the Von der Leyen Commission. In her dissertation, she examines the ‘Gender Equality Strategy 2020-2025’ and the implementation of intersectionality in the European Union. Before her position at the Otto von Guericke University, Alba Kugelmeier López worked as a research assistant at the Goethe University Frankfurt am Main. She holds a Master of Social Science in Leadership for Change: European and Global Politics and Gender Studies, obtained from Tampere University, as well as a BA in Sociology and Political Science from the Goethe University.In December 2023, she received a reward for special achievements and engagement at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg.As a Visiting Fellow at the Florence STG, she will investigate how intersectionality is excluded from European Union policies due to various barriers. Additionally, she will conduct an implementation study focusing on the "Union of Equality 2020-2025".
