Biography

Desmond King, part-time professor at the Schuman Centre, is Andrew W Mellon Professor of American Government at the University of Oxford and Fellow of Nuffield College. He is also an Emeritus Fellow of St John’s College, Oxford and is an elected fellow of several learned societies including Academia Europaea, the British Academy, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the American Philosophical Society. His research is on comparative politics including immigration policy, racial inequality and politics in the US, violence, and theories of the state.
