Elizabeth O'Brien is an Irish-Australian disarmament expert. As a Policy Leader Fellow, she will explore novel ways to regulate Lethal Autonomous Weapons Systems, with a focus on design thinking and the problem-solving approaches used in technology firms. She has previously held roles within the Australian Department of Defence, the Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance, the Permanent Mission of Ireland in Geneva (where she worked to develop the Political Declaration on the Use of Explosive Weapons in Populated Areas), and most recently the Arms Trade Treaty Secretariat.
