Biography

Ignacio De La Rasilla del Moral holds a MA and a PhD from The Graduate Institute in Geneva and LLM from Harvard University. He holds the Han Depei Chair in International Law and he is ‘One Thousand Talents Plan Distinguished Professor’ at the Wuhan University Institute of International Law, he is the Chief-Expert at the Wuhan Academy of International Law and Global Governance (National Top Think Tank) and founding co-Editor-in-Chief of the Chinese Journal of Transnational Law (SAGE). He is the author of over 100 academic publications in international law and the awardee of the triennal “Chimes Bell Award” (2020-2022) for High-Level Foreign Experts for outstanding contributions to the social and economic development of Hubei Province in 2023. His more recent books include International Law and History. Modern Interfaces (CUP, 2021) and The Cambridge Handbook of China and International Law (CUP, 2024).

As a Visiting Fellow at the Florence STG, he plans to explore cooperation opportunities to build a stronger bridge between Chinese and Western approaches to international law in times of global challenges.
