Martin Chorzempa is a Senior Fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics. As a Fulbright Scholar in Germany and a Luce Scholar at Peking University's China Center for Economic Research, he worked on comparative financial regulation, China's financial reforms, and the rise of innovative financial technology in China. He also worked for the China Finance 40 Forum in Beijing, a leading independent think tank. In 2017, he graduated from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government with a masters in public administration in international development.Chorzempa's research focuses on financial technology and digital currency, as well as technology and national security issues like export controls and foreign investment screening. He is author of ‘The Cashless Revolution: China's Reinvention of Money’ (PublicAffairs, October 2022), which the Financial Times named one of the best economics books of 2022. He is regularly quoted by major media outlets such as the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Washington Post, Financial Times, MIT Technology Review, and Foreign Affairs.
