Biography

Vincent Himmer is currently completing his PhD in Sociology at Sciences Po. Vincent's dissertation focuses on impact investing and social entrepreneurship in order to understand the economic foundations of responsible capitalism. He is particularly interested in analysing how capital circulates in markets and how its accumulation conflicts with the moral principles claimed by professionals. His methods are inspired by both sociology and economics as he works to describe the economic circuits in which these professionals are embedded.

During his Max Weber Fellowship, Vincent will work on environmental market regulation by studying waste management organisations in the textile industry. In particular, he will ask how these organisations reconfigure state-market relations and whether they can be interpreted as a form of green corporatism. He intends to draw on observations of these professionals at work and on quantitative analysis of the market data produced by the waste management organisation.

Vincent has taught BA level courses in Introduction to Sociology, Qualitative and Quantitative Methods and History of Economic Thought.
