Biography

Yuliya Chernykh is a Full Professor of Law at the University of Inland Norway and Associate Professor II at the University of Oslo.

Yuliya researches questions related to the interpretation of legal texts (particularly, contract interpretation and treaty interpretation) and the intersections between national, transnational and international legal frameworks in international adjudication. She also works in the fields of contract law, international commercial law, international investment law, sports law, comparative law, legal theory, and legal history.

Yuliya has extensive practical experience in international adjudication. She has acted as arbitrator, expert and counsel in numerous international arbitration proceedings, and is on the panel of arbitrators of various arbitration institutes. On 2013, the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK) awarded her the qualification of a Chartered Arbitrator. On 2024, the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (UK) awarded her the qualification of the CEDR-accredited mediator. She is a ICC Court Member (2024-2027), an elected member of the Steering Committee of the ISDS Academic Forum, a co-rapporteur for the ILA Committee on International Law and ADR and Editorial Board Member of the Journal of World Investment and Trade (Brill).
