GiZ:PAGODA - Executive Dialogues on International Carbon Markets

This project has received funding from the Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer internationale Zusammenarbeit (GiZ).

The Executive Dialogues on International Carbon Markets seek to share the European experience of carbon pricing and trading systems with non-European G20 countries. The programme consists of senior executive level training covering carbon pricing, taxation, offsets and carbon trading systems within the broader policy context of evolving energy markets, low-carbon investment and sustainable finance. Participants are engaged in a rich programme of online events and training.

This project is led by the STG Climate in close cooperation with the World Bank’s Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition. The programme is financed by the European Union’s Partnership Instrument and the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety (BMU) in the context of the International Climate Initiative (IKI).

Activities
The project’s core activities are workshops and webinars with key representatives of government, industry, academia and civil society/NGOs. Phase One of the project (2020) focused on South Africa and India while Phase Two (2021) expands the programme to Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and Indonesia.
The project team works closely with local partners and stakeholders to craft a programme tailored to the specific context of each country.
